Delhi Day one
Today was a really amazing day in Delhi. We went to the giant mausoleum that resembles the Taj mahal, and drove by many government buildings including the Modi house and the president's house. We visited a Sikh Temple and the largest mosque in India. The highlight of the day was walking through the crowded streets of Old Delhi and seeing the huge array of products and foods for sale. Some of the traffic was pretty intense with the tuk tuks. Glad I wasn't doing the driving!
3/4/24, 6:26 AM - Isha Arora: Did you go to chandni chowk and jama masjid In old Delhi ?
3/4/24, 6:56 AM - Josh Painter: Yes, both. The mosque was amazing, such a huge space inside. I liked the water in the center. The market area was really incredible, so dense with tiny shops.
3/4/24, 7:00 AM - Josh Painter: I'm really enjoying just watching TV in the hotel room as well. It is hard to take my eyes off of all these interesting shows. There is a kind of epic series that comes on at 8:00 with Shiva.
3/4/24, 7:35 AM - Isha Arora: Haha I am glad
You are having fun josh
3/4/24, 7:37 AM - Isha Arora: Those are the most dense and crazy streets of Delhi. And Wow, you handled that well.
Chandni chowk has amazing and most popular street food , there is a place called paranthe waale gali( Indian savory stuffed pancakes) amazing but eat at your own Risk 🤪
3/4/24, 8:08 AM - Isha Arora: And looks like you went to bangla sahib Sikh temple.
Did you eat there ?
3/4/24, 8:50 AM - Josh Painter: I was at the Sikh temple before lunch when they were still preparing everything. The bread looked really great! I'm taking it pretty easy in terms of food, sticking to vegetarian dishes, everything cooked. Fortunately there are many great ones to choose from! The naan I had tonight with some of the best I've tasted with that charred and soft and chewy quality. Probably be eating mostly at the hotels with only a snack for lunch. I took some bars with me.
3/4/24, 8:52 AM - Josh Painter: Going to hit the sack, I must say it is hard to turn this TV off.
3/4/24, 9:32 AM - Isha Arora: I miss india tv time too
3/4/24, 6:11 PM - Pradeepthi Nettem: So glad you’re having a good time, Josh. Looks like you’re being escorted by the tour guide. That’s a relief to know rather than you exploring all by yourself. Have a best time and good call to go easy on street food 🤣🤣
3/5/24, 3:54 AM - Josh Painter: Hi Pradeepthi Yes, getting escorted around is absolutely the plan. Also, no street food for this one. I brought bars that I can eat for lunch which helps out the guide and driver who can eat quickly at a food stall.
